Rocks are Canonical’s take on OCI-compliant container images. But how are they made? And what do you do when something doesn’t go according to plan?
In this lightning talk, Marcin Konowalczyk will briefly outline the anatomy of a rock and invite people to the ‘unconference’ section at the end of the day for in-person demos and fun challenges involving rockcraft.
About Marcin
By training Marcin Konowalczyk is a chemist, but by passion he is a Software Engineer. During his academic years, he found a niche in programming custom machines and data analysis pipelines. He has never had a good head for complex maths, so writing little programs and simulations turned out to be his way into understanding more theoretical subjects.
Following his interest in programming, he has gone on to work as a Data Scientist, and then as Systems/Data Engineer. His main programming languages are Python and Go, but he has engaged in a few fights with the (in)famous borrow checker. On a hobbyist front, he is particularly interested in programming language design and computational art. His favourite algorithm is the unconstrained optimization using a simplex method.
