Oracle’s data center in Abilene, Texas, is home to what will become the world’s largest AI cluster, supporting advanced workloads for OpenAI. Built on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, this facility transformed from empty land in June 2024 to operational status delivering GPUs in less than one year. Once fully provisioned, the AI cluster will contain more than 450,000 NVIDIA GPUs, powered by a blend of grid electricity and onsite natural gas turbines.
Spanning eight interconnected buildings across 1,000 acres, the site leverages state-of-the-art technology, including liquid cooling and dedicated AI accelerators, to maximize efficiency and performance. Every day, more than 3,500 professionals work onsite to deliver new capacity at record speed. Oracle’s commitment to large-scale cloud innovation not only meets the surging demand for AI, but also supports mission-critical workloads for customers worldwide.
