Panel Discussion: How Open Source Collaboration Is Transforming the Power Systems Sector – Dan Brown, LF Energy; Hilary Carter, The Linux Foundation; Jonas van den Bogaard, Alliander; Christophe Villemer, Savoir-faire Linux; Bryce Bartmann, Shell
The energy sector is facing a tremendous challenge to transform itself in order to achieve decarbonization goals. New technologies are necessary for everything from onboarding distributed energy resources (DERs) to operating virtual substations, deploying new EV charging infrastructure, forecasting net loads on the grid, accurately measuring carbon emissions, and more. This panel will examine how open source software, hardware, and standards are being developed and deployed to meet this challenge. Panelists, who all participate in the LF Energy Foundation and its projects, represent energy generators, utilities, and technology providers who are working jointly to build the solutions necessary to complete the energy transition to ensure a cleaner future.
