Let’s take a deep dive into OXC LCoS. Today, the mainstream optical wavelength grooming technology is based on liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) devices. The number of LCoS pixels determines how many wavelengths can be groomed. The higher the pixel count, the more wavelengths the device can process. An LCoS device with a resolution of 2.9K is about the size of four fingernails. It has millions of liquid-crystal pixels and can simultaneously process 12 THz of optical spectrum. The higher the refractive index of the LCoS liquid-crystal material, the faster its deflection response.
