PyTorch Foundation: 1 Year of Open Governance – Ibrahim Haddad, PyTorch Foundation
At Open Source Summit EU, we’re celebrating one year of the PyTorch Foundation. Last September at Open Source Summit in Dublin, PyTorch became a part of the Linux Foundation, officially forming the PyTorch Foundation. Our goal is to help end users navigate the PyTorch ecosystem, recruit talent, and adopt PyTorch and support open source AI technologies successfully. Over the past six months, we’ve seen tremendous growth within the PyTorch community. Notably, the number of commits across all repositories increased by 36%, unique contributors grew by over 2,000, and new community contributions grew by 18%. We’ve worked with the community and our members to release several enhancements including PyTorch 2.0, the first PyTorch Docathon, the first PyTorch Mini Summit and more. Hear from the Foundation’s Executive Director on what PyTorch has been up to in the last year, and where the project and foundation will go in the future.
