
CSL is a global biotechnology company specializing in lifesaving medicines that treat hemophilia and immune deficiencies, prevent influenza, and therapies in iron deficiency and nephrology. CSL had multiple disparate technology stacks due to acquisitions, operating 5000+ VMware servers and managing 1000+ applications spread across 29 data centers. CSL faced daunting challenges in complex, costly legacy VMware license and vendor management, technical debt from legacy infrastructure, recurring capacity and scalability issues, and traditional wave planning and server migration methods made it unsuitable to meet project timeline to reduce its data center footprint. It used AWS Transform, resulting in 10x acceleration in wave planning using AWS Transform VMware for cloud migration, months of manual effort savings to process 4.6 million records of on-premises discovery data residing on over 5000 VMware servers across 29 data centers, 30% operational cost savings through reductions including VMware licensing cost. It is on track to exit 17 data centers in 30 months using AWS Transform.
