The –remote_output_service is a community driven project with a fuse based companion program that allows your builds to not have their bytes and eat them too. Build without the bytes is a great feature of bazel that allows large builds to be completed without waiting eons to download the intermediate results. Sometimes you need a subset of the intermediate results and for that we have the remote output service.
In this talk we’ll go through the remote output service, its companion program bb-clientd, how it works and how it helps us get one step closer to finally ridding ourselves of all the bottlenecks.
