These are all the cool things that were released in Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) in the month of September:
✅ In September, the team introduced the autopilot compute class, which brings the benefits of GKE Autopilot mode in GKE Standard clusters. Many GKE Enterprise features are now included in the GKE standard as of early September.
✅ New networking enhancements include zonal affinity for L4 ILB services in preview, ensuring high availability and zone based traffic routing.
✅ Multis subnet clusters are now generally available. Vertical pod autoscaler with in place pod resize is now in preview. Node auto-provisioning (NAP) is now available on a per class basis along with the ability to define system-level configurations for nodes.
✅ Kubernetes 1.34 is available on GKE with increased node drain timeout to one hour. The A4X VM featuring NVIDIA GB200 is now available, boosting AI and HPC workloads. There’s also a dedicated service agent for logging and monitoring on version 1.33 and later.
✅ Finally, the FileStore regional tier is supported by the GKE CSI driver, offering another storage option for stateful applications.
