In this first look preview, we dive into our latest Intel HEDT motherboards based on the latest W790 chipset. These two motherboards are ready for the latest Intel XEON W series CPUs, the W-3400 and W-2400 respectively.
The W790 platform offers an impressive update compared to X299, Intel’s previous HEDT enthusiast chipset. It offers professionals and PCDIY enthusiasts improves performance, robust expansion and the latest generation IO and spec.
Those in the fields of science and simulation, CAD, VFX, media production, mixed media production as well as many other fields and advanced productivity workflows can see significant improvements to productivity.
Alongside a new socket this platform introduces the “golden cove” CPU microarchitecture with support for up 56 cores and 112 threads. In addition, support for up to eight channels of DDR5 memory, and up to 112 PCIe Gen 5.0 lanes for extensive PCIe expansion. Add to this rich IO including support for USB 3.2 20GBps, 10G and WiFi support.
