Research datasets are getting larger, richer, and harder to coordinate. In this Microsoft Academic Research Exchange session, Dr. Shaun Chuah from the University of Glasgow introduces Foundry120, a governed research operating system designed to bring order to fragmented research environments.
Foundry120 connects samples, clinical data, and experimental outputs into a structured, queryable platform so researchers can move from question to insight faster. Built on Microsoft Azure, the platform enables scalable compute, secure data handling, and governed access across complex research workflows.
The session also demonstrates Helix, an AI agent that helps researchers find datasets, run analyses, and generate outputs using natural language, all while maintaining permissions, audit trails, and reproducibility.
The result is faster cohort discovery, reduced manual work, and a foundation for responsible, AI-driven translational science.
